Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Duffield Slattery took the kick off in the first half of the match. Toonpan's Oliver Millar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Toonpan from getting a goal against them. After 15 played minutes Toonpan got a freekick which was hit by Brennan Rhodes. If Cliff Oreilly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Toonpan's zone, Cliff Oreilly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oliver Millar came out of the goal and Cliff Oreilly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Duffield Slattery had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 42 minutes, Cornelius Withy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Toonpan and the Elwood players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Toonpan getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Cornelius Withy hit a great ball. Cliff Oreilly struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Oliver Millar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Elwood. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Duffield Slattery might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Barnard Orr. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Duffield Slattery ran back to his position shaking his head. Barnard Orr made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Ace Ambrose sent off a good shot on target. Duffield Slattery fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barnard Orr having to interfere. After having played for 58 minutes, Cliff Oreilly managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Elwood's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cliff Oreilly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 60th minute Gregory Blagburn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oliver Millar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Duffield Slattery received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Barnard Orr came out and tried to block the shot, but Duffield Slattery slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 61st minute. The supporters of Elwood booed when Toonpan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl Alchin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oliver Millar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregory Blagburn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliver Millar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregory Blagburn in the 70th minute of the match. Duffield Slattery was extremely unlucky when he, in the 74th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Barnard Orr showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duffield Slattery in the 78th minute of the match. When Ace Ambrose came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Toonpan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ace Ambrose couldn't finish the play. If Gregory Blagburn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oliver Millar came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Elwood's Gregory Blagburn. But to his dismay, Gregory Blagburn quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Gregory Blagburn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Toonpan supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Toonpan would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
