Cliff Oreilly could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Brad Johnson made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Elwood's Gregory Blagburn got a free kick in the 16th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antony Cusbert in the 17th minute of play forced Elwood's goalkeeper Barnard Orr to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lawrance Virgin charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lawrance Virgin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Edwards Hollingworth fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 37th minute Gregory Blagburn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brad Johnson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Riverton's goal looked a bit too open when Gregory Blagburn came free, but Brad Johnson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brad Johnson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregory Blagburn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antonia Brennand to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Riverton's zone, Cliff Oreilly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brad Johnson came out of the goal and Cliff Oreilly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aron Quigley hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Brad Johnson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gregory Blagburn's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Barnard Orr showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonia Brennand in the 62nd minute of the match. Cliff Oreilly took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Brad Johnson. Brad Johnson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 82nd minute, Russ Coote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rd minute, Stephan Hitchen sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Riverton's Brad Johnson didn't even have to move. 85 minutes into the match, Riverton's goal looked a bit too open when Gregory Blagburn came free, but Brad Johnson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Riverton getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Edwards Hollingworth hit a great ball. If Antony Cusbert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cliff Oreilly received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Brad Johnson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Elwood fully deserved thier win.
