Finley's supporters rose to their feet, but Tom Weatherby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adolph Terris breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Finley's attack was well implemented in the 19th minute, but when Burtt Quelch was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. The crowd rose to their feet as Finley's Alexander Quelch slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Adolph Terris. That made the score 1-0 after 23 minutes of play. Finley's Alexander Quelch got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Burtt Quelch's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adolph Terris was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alexander Quelch in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adolph Terris prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Burtt Quelch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Adolph Terris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Burtt Quelch struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Adolph Terris didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Finley. In the 38th minute of the match, Alexander Quelch tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Adolph Terris saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Adolph Terris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexander Quelch in the 40th minute of the match. Burtt Quelch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Adolph Terris made a huge save. Burtt Quelch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adolph Terris having to interfere. Alexander Quelch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Adolph Terris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alexander Quelch made a kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Burtt Quelch who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tahlee's Adolph Terris was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Adolph Terris stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Burtt Quelch's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. If Alexander Quelch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
