The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Brooks Mcgregor kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. A hard shot 8 in the game by Burtt Quelch from a close distance when the talented Blade Serena managed to make a qualified save. Yalpara's players were relieved. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When Ronald Porteus came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Yalpara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronald Porteus couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute Larkin Park shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ellis Malacarne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 35th minute Alexander Quelch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Blade Serena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Finley booed when Yalpara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carson Schultz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ellis Malacarne didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ronald Porteus went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The Finley players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Yalpara were winning 0-1.

With a left leg Blade Serena saved Yalpara from getting behind. 82 minutes into the match, Yalpara's goal looked a bit too open when Burtt Quelch came free, but Blade Serena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Laurence Rennie during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
