The supporters of Marek Hamsik United booed when Higginsville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Heberle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jamie Wayland made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Thomas Luckham sent off a good shot on target. Bryce Trenoweth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamie Wayland having to interfere. Lauder Fraser showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rob Cochrane, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Thomas Luckham came free with the goalkeeper in the 42nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jamie Wayland could save by the left post. In the 43rd minute, Alex Heberle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Higginsville getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Brennan Sperling hit a great ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Thomas Luckham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Remy Block's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lauder Fraser read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play.
