Marshal Quinnell charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marshal Quinnell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marshal Quinnell hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lance Bower to make the kick off. Loud Alcock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Brotherton in the 51st minute of the match. Loud Alcock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Brotherton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raymond Rennie came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Battle Devere could save by the left post. Battle Devere was a little too slow when Raymond Rennie got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 1-1. In the 58th minute of the match Braedan Orr shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Battle Devere showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 60th minute, Nelson Holdsworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bob Ramsay was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Battle Devere came out of the goal and Raymond Rennie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cottonvale's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Springhurst the free kick. A collision led to Springhurst getting a freekick after 95 minutes play.
