A sloppy throw-in by Ed Hunter in the 5th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Wellcamp's Kale Beverly. Wellcamp's Norm Norton quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Wellcamp's attentive Kale Beverly managed to snatch the ball when Ed Hunter made a throw-in in the 11th minute of the game. Wellcamp's Cliff Saisell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Beer in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Marian's Benson Morey dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. A collision led to Marian getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. James Staggard hit a great ball. In the 20th minute, Marian's Max Beer dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Cliff Saisell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Max Beer in the 24th minute of the match. Bob Brandie's late challenge caught a Marian's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bob Brandie helped the player get up and apologised. Bob Brandie hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. The Marian fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Marian's Max Beer looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when James Staggard got free with Cliff Saisell in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 32 minutes into the match, Fletcher Mcinnis sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Cliff Saisell threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Fletcher Mcinnis this time. Cliff Saisell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Max Beer in the 36th minute of play. Norm Norton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute Max Beer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Saisell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Wellcamp's Cliff Saisell got control of the ball when James Staggard tried to sneak it across the goal line. Wellcamp's Cliff Saisell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Beer in the 42nd minute of play. 45 minutes into the game, Max Beer recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cliff Saisell. Max Beer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alberto Cawthorne to make the kick off.
