Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Alan Czaczka kicked off to start the match. After recieving a nice pass, Quantong's Jayden Hilton tried to score from far away in the 4th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 5 minutes into the game, Earl Benton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Bern Whittington was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Earl Benton during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Grasmere booed when Quantong was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Earl Benton didn't get a good kick on the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Luck Heys was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grasmere's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quantong the free kick. After a rather tough play, Grasmere's Luck Heys got a free kick in the 24th minute. Grasmere's Connor Kennedy got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Alan Czaczka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arne Tearle in the 35th minute of play forced Grasmere's goalkeeper Bern Whittington to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alan Czaczka fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Earle Potter having to interfere. After 44 minutes, Randle Auger mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grasmere and the Quantong players grew even worse after the yellow card. Earl Benton struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Bern Whittington didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Quantong. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arne Tearle made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Earl Benton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bern Whittington. Grasmere's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Earl Benton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In a very dangerous position, a player in Grasmere fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 57th minute. Penalty! 63 minutes into the match, Quantong's goal looked a bit too open when Alan Czaczka came free, but Earle Potter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Earle Potter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alan Czaczka's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. After having played for 70 minutes, Earl Benton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quantong's supporters crossed their fingers, but Earl Benton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Alan Czaczka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Luck Heys managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grasmere's supporters rose to their feet, but Luck Heys was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Earle Potter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alan Czaczka in the 85th minute of play forced Quantong's goalkeeper Earle Potter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arne Tearle blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bern Whittington having to make a save. Earl Benton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Quantong were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Grasmere's much stronger midfield.
