Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Wahgunyah's Cod Williams started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th match minute, Wahgunyah was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arne Devere to maneuver through the defense. Logan Biddell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phenix Glover in the 5th minute of the match. Phenix Glover struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Logan Biddell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rockleigh. In the 9th minute Phenix Glover shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Logan Biddell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bradshaw Sewell came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Wahgunyah fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bradshaw Sewell couldn't finish the play. In the 13th minute, Phenix Glover hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Wahgunyah booed when Rockleigh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Sanderson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rockleigh's goalkeeper Edmonds Muddle, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cod Williams sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wahgunyah's Logan Biddell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phenix Glover in the 26th minute of play. Edmonds Muddle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cod Williams, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Bradshaw Sewell struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Edmonds Muddle didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wahgunyah. In the 31st minute, Brandon Shirdon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wahgunyah's Bradshaw Sewell got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Bradshaw Sewell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wahgunyah fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Cod Williams sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the game, one of Wahgunyah:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Phenix Glover was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Wahgunyah's goal looked a bit too open when Phenix Glover came free, but Logan Biddell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 54 played minutes Wahgunyah got a freekick which was hit by Logan Colling. Phenix Glover received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Logan Biddell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 58 minutes, Logan Colling mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wahgunyah and the Rockleigh players grew even worse after the yellow card. 60 minutes into the match, Wahgunyah's goal looked a bit too open when Roy Teuma came free, but Logan Biddell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benny Powell kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. With a little luck, Rockleigh's Edmonds Muddle got control of the ball when Bradshaw Sewell tried to sneak it across the goal line. 69 minutes into the game, Benny Powell was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wahgunyah's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rockleigh the free kick. Benny Powell hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Cod Williams showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. 79 minutes into the game, Brandon Shirdon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
