Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Brayden Slattery got the match started through his kick off. Rockleigh's Edmonds Muddle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brayden Slattery in the 3rd minute of play. In the 4th minute Roy Teuma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raleigh Annis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 6 minutes into the game, Neil Szobczak was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rockleigh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Broadmarsh the free kick. After 6 played minutes Rockleigh got a freekick which was hit by Neil Szobczak. Brayden Slattery blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmonds Muddle having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Rockleigh's zone, Brayden Slattery stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmonds Muddle came out of the goal and Brayden Slattery tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abe Laughton hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. After having played for 12 minutes, Roy Teuma managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rockleigh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roy Teuma was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raleigh Annis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phenix Glover, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Broadmarsh defense, Phenix Glover kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Raleigh Annis. The Broadmarsh fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Raleigh Annis should have stopped the shot. Raleigh Annis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phenix Glover, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute Rockleigh were awarded a corner. Rick Hemsley went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 21st match minute, Rockleigh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phil Sanderson to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes into the match, Roy Teuma notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Broadmarsh's Raleigh Annis. Raleigh Annis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 30 minutes into the game, Broadmarsh's Rusty Trims nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edmonds Muddle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Roy Teuma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raleigh Annis having to interfere. Ned Schoenke kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. In the 45th minute of the match Rick Hemsley shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raleigh Annis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Phenix Glover to strike the kick off in the second half. Alexander Duggan hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Rick Hemsley kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After having played for 56 minutes, Brayden Slattery managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Broadmarsh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brayden Slattery was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raleigh Annis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roy Teuma in the 58th minute. Roy Teuma's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Raleigh Annis firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 68th match minute, Broadmarsh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darley Addison to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Rockleigh's Rick Hemsley tried to score from far away in the 69th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Neil Szobczak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute of the match Gregg Babbage sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edmonds Muddle skillfully saved the ball. Raleigh Annis was a little too slow when Phenix Glover got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 1-3. Edmonds Muddle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brayden Slattery in the 76th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Rockleigh's Phil Sanderson got a free kick in the 82nd minute. The supporters of Broadmarsh booed when Rockleigh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brandon Shirdon didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Rusty Trims got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brayden Slattery in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edmonds Muddle saved Rockleigh from getting behind. When Brayden Slattery came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Broadmarsh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brayden Slattery couldn't finish the play. Brayden Slattery fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmonds Muddle having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rusty Trims in the 96th minute of play forced Rockleigh's goalkeeper Edmonds Muddle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
