Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Panthers FC's Byrne Mcvicar started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Byrne Mcvicar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jonathan Sawbridge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Bruce Tarrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Mckinnes in the 11th minute of play forced Panthers FC's goalkeeper Bernie Merz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernie Merz came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Balgowan's Neville Bonham. But to his dismay, Neville Bonham quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 17th minute Bartholemew Arkinstall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernie Merz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Panthers FC's Bernie Merz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bartholemew Arkinstall in the 20th minute of play. If Neville Bonham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Navin Swan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Bernie Merz firmly grabbed it by the left post. Neville Bonham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Bernie Merz made a huge save. A collision led to Panthers FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Berny Cookesley hit a great ball. After having played for 30 minutes, Byrne Mcvicar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panthers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Byrne Mcvicar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Phillip Dollymore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Tarrant having to interfere. The wind increased when Barry Mckinnes made the kick off in the second half. Bernie Merz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Navin Swan in the 52nd minute of play. Bernie Merz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neville Bonham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 58 minutes, Jamese Baptiste mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Panthers FC and the Balgowan players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Bartholemew Arkinstall ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernie Merz was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Panthers FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Balgowan the free kick. After a rather tough play, Panthers FC's Berny Cookesley got a free kick in the 87th minute. 88 minutes into the match, Panthers FC's goal looked a bit too open when Barry Mckinnes came free, but Bernie Merz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 89 minutes of play, Balgowan's Navin Swan made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernie Merz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bernie Merz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Mckinnes in the 93rd minute of play. After 94 minutes Panthers FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Bock Surman who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Balgowan's Bock Surman to fire away a dangerous shot which Bernie Merz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Panthers FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
