Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Cardwell's Bill Mckay started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd minute, Fabrizio Maunsell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bill Mckay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nash Glover having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Hicks in the 8th minute of play forced Coalcliff's goalkeeper Nash Glover to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nash Glover took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryan Hicks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bill Mckay hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, Cardwell's goal looked a bit too open when Iggy Munday came free, but Munroe Rennie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iggy Munday in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Munroe Rennie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 30th minute, Bryan Hicks ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nash Glover was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 35 minutes into the match, Cardwell's Bill Mckay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nash Glover narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nash Glover took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bill Mckay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Coalcliff booed when Cardwell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Busst didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the game, Berne Woods was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cardwell's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Coalcliff the free kick. In the 47thth minute of the game Iggy Munday who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cardwell's Munroe Rennie was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half Cardwell were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iggy Munday to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Cardwell defense, Iggy Coldicutt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Munroe Rennie. The Cardwell fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Munroe Rennie should have stopped the shot. In the 62nd minute Iggy Munday shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Munroe Rennie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Coalcliff's Iggy Coldicutt got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Coalcliff's Iggy Munday in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cardwell's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Cardwell getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Bernard Buckland hit a great ball. The Cardwell supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cardwell would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
