Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Laurence Boothey started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. When Laurence Boothey came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Buchan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laurence Boothey couldn't finish the play. Kirk Mcenally received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Quade Caddick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Laurence Boothey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buchan's supporters rose to their feet, but Laurence Boothey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roy Locke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edward Missen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Quade Caddick having to interfere. Edmonds Mcgregor in the 33rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Roy Locke, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kirk Mcenally in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Quade Caddick saved Buchan from getting behind. Potter Rummens kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Elsternwick Amateurs's goal looked a bit too open when Laurence Boothey came free, but Roy Locke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kirk Mcenally was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Elsternwick Amateurs defense, Edmonds Mcgregor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roy Locke. The Elsternwick Amateurs fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roy Locke should have stopped the shot. If Edmonds Mcgregor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reese Morse hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Arneil Dowsing kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Bern Starling hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Elsternwick Amateurs's zone, Mitchell Loch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roy Locke came out of the goal and Mitchell Loch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elsternwick Amateurs's Roy Locke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmonds Mcgregor in the 70th minute of play. Edmonds Mcgregor scored 2-0 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roy Locke, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 79th minute, Kirk Mcenally ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Quade Caddick was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmonds Mcgregor in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roy Locke saved Elsternwick Amateurs from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cliff Wakefield during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 85th minute, Cliff Wakefield hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute of the match Cregan Cassilly shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roy Locke showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kirk Mcenally sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Elsternwick Amateurs's Payton Beale got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. For all the effort they put into the match, the Elsternwick Amateurs players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Buchan.
