When Raymond Thiele fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Moorabbin's protests and gave Raymond Thiele a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, Raymond Thiele hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 5 minutes into the match, Eatonsville's Boyde Leyden broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 8 minutes into the match, Moorabbin's goal looked a bit too open when Hank Mcgrath came free, but Brendon Castray reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Moorabbin's Dan Sedgman got a free kick in the 8th minute. After 11 played minutes Eatonsville got a freekick which was hit by Bremen Obree. Al Blackham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bryant Rose having to interfere. Bryant Rose made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reginald Park in the 18th minute of play. Moorabbin's Brendon Castray played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niles Howie in the 22nd minute of play. Al Blackham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Bryant Rose tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Reginald Park had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute, Eatonsville's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Reginald Park fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Hank Mcgrath made the kick off in the second half. When Raymond Thiele was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 59 minutes had been played. When Hank Mcgrath came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Eatonsville fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hank Mcgrath couldn't finish the play. Bremen Obree hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Hank Mcgrath fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Castray having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Al Blackham in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bryant Rose prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 84 minutes, Rodney Staworowski mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moorabbin and the Eatonsville players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 85th minute Hank Mcgrath shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brendon Castray saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
