Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Wongabel's David Hinwood started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Artie Crapp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 6 minutes into the match, David Hinwood notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Lidsdale's Neale Carlisle. Neale Carlisle was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Lidsdale's Neale Carlisle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Hinwood in the 15th minute of play. Bart Will blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amos Haeberle having to make a save. Lidsdale's attack was well implemented in the 17th minute, but when Billy Boston was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Bart Will sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Wongabel getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Phil Beverley hit a great ball. Burtt Wal's late challenge caught a Wongabel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. If Bart Will had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neale Carlisle acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 33rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jayden Aliendi. Lidsdale's Neale Carlisle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Hinwood in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Wongabel getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Dwight Bostock hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Wongabel's Dwight Bostock got a free kick in the 42nd minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Billy Boston was the one to do the kick off. Edgar Maciver might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Neale Carlisle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edgar Maciver ran back to his position shaking his head. Billy Boston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amos Haeberle having to interfere. When Lidsdale's Billy Boston in the 56th minute got a chance for a shot 56th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wongabel's goalie prevented a goal. After 62 minutes of play, Lidsdale's Bart Will made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Amos Haeberle was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Wongabel's Carter Laing got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 78th minute, David Hinwood got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Matthews Borserio hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Bart Will got in the 86th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Amos Haeberle handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. If Edgar Maciver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, Lidsdale's Amos Haeberle threw himself towards the right post 90 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Billy Boston, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 92 minutes into the game, Phil Beverley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wongabel's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lidsdale the free kick. The supporters of Lidsdale booed when Wongabel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgar Maciver didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
