The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Bernie Bower managed to get in a good position for a shot. Medowie's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernie Bower was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chuck Petersen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chuck Petersen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Randolph Death in the 8th minute of the match. Christian Hodson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil Burmeister in the 10th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rob Murphy got free with Christian Hodson in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chuck Muggleton struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Chuck Petersen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Medowie. Chuck Muggleton's late challenge caught a Yea's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chuck Muggleton helped the player get up and apologised. After 24 played minutes Medowie got a freekick which was hit by Chuck Muggleton. After 29 played minutes Elliott Riley rounded Medowie's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. Rob Murphy hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Antonio Potter kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 37thth minute of the game Bernie Bower who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Yea's Chuck Petersen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 43 played minutes Medowie got a freekick which was hit by Randolph Death. Rob Murphy in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Christian Hodson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In a very dangerous position, a player in Medowie fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 45th minute. Penalty!

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Elliott Riley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Elliott Riley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christian Hodson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Randolph Death hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute Elliott Riley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Hodson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Yea booed when Medowie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernie Bower didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rob Murphy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christian Hodson having to interfere. Medowie's Christian Hodson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rob Murphy in the 89th minute of play. When Chuck Muggleton came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Medowie fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chuck Muggleton couldn't finish the play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Yea fully deserved thier win.
