In the 86th minute Lorimer Maunsell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Rowdon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lorimer Maunsell scored 1-5 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of James Rowdon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, David Bonnison managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cheviot's supporters rose to their feet, but David Bonnison was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. James Rowdon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Island of Ferns eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
