Earnest Wirth was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Humphrey Chamberlain. A collision led to Springcliff getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Bill Tarrant hit a great ball. If David Bonnison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 13 minutes, Kevin Brien managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Springcliff's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kevin Brien was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Kevin Brien notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Cheviot's Earnest Wirth. Earnest Wirth was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Curtis Mcinnis did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Earnest Wirth 27 minutes into the match. If Curtis Mcinnis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 32 minutes into the match, Cheviot's goalkeeper Earnest Wirth had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kevin Brien. Kevin Brien blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Earnest Wirth having to make a save. Kevin Brien fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Earnest Wirth having to interfere. If Curtis Mcinnis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Earnest Wirth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Curtis Mcinnis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for David Bonnison to strike the kick off in the second half.
