Spectators: 7274 (Terracing: 5820, Seating: 1300, VIP seats: 154) Lawrance Obrien started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jared Kuskop in the 3rd minute of play forced westmanly's goalkeeper Edwards Newton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute, Jared Kuskop got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edwards Newton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herman Murphy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner ended in Art Sperling almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but westmanly's Edwards Newton did a great save. Jared Kuskop received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Edwards Newton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Herman Murphy's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edwards Newton was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Edwards Newton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jared Kuskop in the 20th minute of play. In the 24th minute, Aaron Dobbing hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute, Herman Murphy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 32nd minute Herman Murphy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwards Newton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 36 minutes, Rudolph Rishton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the westmanly and the Rhodes players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, westmanly's Rudolph Rishton got a free kick in the 36th minute. Jared Kuskop received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Edwards Newton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th match minute, westmanly was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Preston Goodbun to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute, Herman Murphy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Jared Kuskop had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Herman Murphy made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Jared Kuskop notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of westmanly's Edwards Newton. Edwards Newton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Jared Kuskop had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Herman Murphy scored 0-2 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edwards Newton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. westmanly's Lawrance Obrien managed to work through Rhodes's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Lawrance Obrien dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The supporters of westmanly booed when Rhodes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herman Murphy didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jared Kuskop came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Rhodes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jared Kuskop couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jared Kuskop got free with Edwards Newton in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the westmanly defense, Jared Kuskop kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edwards Newton. The westmanly fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edwards Newton should have stopped the shot. Edwards Newton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herman Murphy, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. When the match was over Rhodes could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than westmanly throughout the match.
