Burns Price showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brant Newton in the 22nd minute of the match. During the 33rd minute of the match Drew Woodbridge completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Drew Woodbridge a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Desarcas booed when Mullumbimby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Drew Woodbridge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Neil Tout showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Russell Christian, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The audience was convinced that Brendan Swan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Neil Tout was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. In the 42nd minute, Desarcas's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after David Hoey fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpected shot in the 44th minute by David Hoey got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Neil Tout took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Russell Christian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Mullumbimby players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Desarcas were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. David Hoey was the one to do the kick off. David Hoey struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Burns Price didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mullumbimby. After a defensive mix-up in Desarcas's zone, David Hoey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Burns Price came out of the goal and David Hoey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 60 minutes, Anthony Samuels mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Desarcas and the Mullumbimby players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute of the match Patrick Mcgrath shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Burns Price showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Desarcas defense, David Hoey kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Burns Price. The Desarcas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Burns Price should have stopped the shot. Brant Newton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Russell Christian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Neil Tout tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mullumbimby's Neil Tout proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Mullumbimby from getting a goal against them. Brendan Swan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. David Hoey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Burns Price took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Toth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Desarcas's Neil Tout threw himself towards the right post 92 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Russell Christian, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Brendan Swan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Neil Tout tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
