Belton Hopkins who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 3rdth minute tested the skills of Luke Giles when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Belton Hopkins got free with Luke Giles in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Buchanan getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Bryan Orvad hit a great ball. Robert Maciver received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Britton Shipp tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Beachton booed when Buchanan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elliot Butterfield didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Buchanan's Bryan Orvad got a free kick in the 19th minute. Robert Maciver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Britton Shipp having to interfere. Belton Hopkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute, Patrick Haeberle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Britton Shipp was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Robert Maciver stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Barnes Slattery sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luke Giles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Belton Hopkins in the 58th minute of play. After 60 played minutes Beachton got a freekick which was hit by Brian Didlick. Robert Maciver's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Britton Shipp read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Barnes Slattery had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luke Giles. Beachton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Barnes Slattery was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. In the 72nd minute Belton Hopkins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luke Giles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Beachton getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Brennan Ward hit a great ball. Belton Hopkins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. It was Andy Meyers who took care of the corner kick. Beachton's Andy Meyers was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Britton Shipp in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. For all the effort they put into the match, the Beachton players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Buchanan.
