The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Case Staggard in the 3rd minute of play forced Azure FC's goalkeeper Corbett Sobczak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Russel Nelson made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Ike Schenck sent off a good shot on target. Russell Natt kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Corbett Sobczak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Case Staggard, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. A collision led to Azure FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Jarrett Mckinley hit a great ball. After 20 played minutes, Highett's Nash Cuddihy shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Corbett Sobczak came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Highett reached it. The audience was convinced that Case Staggard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Corbett Sobczak was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. The supporters of Highett booed when Azure FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jarrett Mckinley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Corbett Sobczak came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Highett's Brayden Todman. But to his dismay, Brayden Todman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Azure FC's Corbett Sobczak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brayden Todman in the 32nd minute of play. Case Staggard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Lawrance Orourke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brayden Todman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Corbett Sobczak read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Ike Schenck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Russel Nelson having to interfere.

54 minutes into the game, Brayden Todman recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Corbett Sobczak. Brayden Todman showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Brayden Todman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corbett Sobczak having to interfere. Lawrance Orourke's late challenge caught a Highett's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lawrance Orourke helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave Highett a penalty, 61 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nash Cuddihy, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Azure FC's Corbett Sobczak. 0-3. After 63 minutes of play, Azure FC's Ike Schenck made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Russel Nelson was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Brayden Todman got free with Corbett Sobczak in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Case Staggard came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Highett fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Case Staggard couldn't finish the play. Blake Harkness's late challenge caught a Azure FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brayden Todman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Corbett Sobczak made a huge save. Russel Nelson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Preston Jeffress in the 95th minute of the match. The Highett supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Highett would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
