Brayden Sparrow was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 8th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 12th minute, Brett Heberle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berne Gilding in the 14th minute of play forced Quagitup's goalkeeper Ben Minton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Dapto booed when Quagitup was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthias Cookesley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Quagitup's Bickford Flisfeder got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barry Pickhills showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bickford Flisfeder in the 25th minute of the match. Brett Heberle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Barry Pickhills tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Quagitup's Ben Minton got control of the ball when Barney Pukallus tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 36 minutes, Barney Pukallus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dapto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barney Pukallus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barry Pickhills took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brett Heberle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the match clock showed 57 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Berne Gilding sped through Quagitup's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ben Minton. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berne Gilding in the 61st minute of play forced Quagitup's goalkeeper Ben Minton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Bickford Flisfeder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ben Minton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Berne Gilding, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. A very good chance for a goal. 81 minutes into the match, Quagitup's goal looked a bit too open when Barney Pukallus came free, but Ben Minton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Barry Pickhills successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ben Minton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barney Pukallus, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Dapto fans cheered their team off the field, for while Quagitup had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
