In the 12th minute, one of Glendart:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Glendart. In the 16th match minute, Dapto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryce Malacarne to maneuver through the defense. When Barney Pukallus came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Dapto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barney Pukallus couldn't finish the play. Barry Pickhills showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kirby Brandie, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. When Danny Awage came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Glendart fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Awage couldn't finish the play. Danny Awage's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Barry Pickhills read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. When Danny Awage came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Glendart fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Awage couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Glendart's zone, Stephan Mcmanamny stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darrell Oconnell came out of the goal and Stephan Mcmanamny tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kenneth Ashwin hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute Berne Gilding shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darrell Oconnell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Kirby Brandie made the kick off in the second half. Barney Pukallus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Darrell Oconnell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Glendart's Darrell Oconnell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berne Gilding in the 59th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Berne Gilding's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Darrell Oconnell was relentless in the 61st minute of the game.
