Mayfield's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brannan Serena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stephan Boots who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 17thth minute tested the skills of Niles Malacarne when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a little luck, Mayfield's Niles Malacarne got control of the ball when Stephan Boots tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nichol Skurrie charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nichol Skurrie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Mayfield's Nichol Skurrie got a free kick in the 26th minute. Niles Malacarne made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Stephan Boots sent off a good shot on target. Mayfield's Niles Malacarne proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Mayfield from getting a goal against them. In the 34th minute, Jayden Dowsing fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The supporters of Hop Skip Jump booed when Mayfield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Miller didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th match minute, Hop Skip Jump was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Mcgaw to maneuver through the defense. In the 48th match minute, Mayfield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nichol Skurrie to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jayden Dowsing stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Mayfield's Darin Norton got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 65th minute Jayden Dowsing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niles Malacarne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brannan Serena could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Munroe Shipman made a huge save. In the 80th minute, John Miller got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. John Miller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Munroe Shipman having to interfere. Brannan Serena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 90th minute, Jess Turnbull hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Munroe Shipman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John Miller in the 93rd minute of the match. Munroe Shipman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Miller, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. John Miller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Munroe Shipman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Mayfield left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Hop Skip Jump.
