The supporters of Poneke booed when Welland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Navarro Norman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bryan Reiter hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. 19 minutes into the match, Poneke's goal looked a bit too open when Neale Bridson came free, but Payne Hinder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryan Reiter in the 20th minute of play forced Poneke's goalkeeper Payne Hinder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st match minute, Poneke was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmonds Salcedo to maneuver through the defense. In the 22nd minute of the match Navarro Norman sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Payne Hinder skillfully saved the ball. Payne Hinder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregg Laughton in the 24th minute of play. 25 minutes into the game, Bryan Reiter cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Payne Hinder was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 28th minute, Ray Fessey ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Payne Hinder was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Bryant Edwards recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Allen Bouer struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Burt Rafferty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Poneke. Bryant Edwards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Burt Rafferty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Burt Rafferty stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bryant Edwards's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Payne Hinder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neale Bridson in the 39th minute of play. Bryant Edwards who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Burt Rafferty when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The Poneke fans' excitement grew in the 44th match minute when Poneke's Bryant Edwards looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 47 played minutes Welland got a freekick which was hit by Bryan Reiter. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Bryan Reiter got free with Payne Hinder in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 60thth minute of the game Bryant Edwards who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Welland's Burt Rafferty was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arne Prinsep sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 64 minutes of play, Welland's Neale Bridson made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Payne Hinder was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bryant Edwards struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Welland's zone, Bryant Edwards stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Burt Rafferty came out of the goal and Bryant Edwards tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 79 minutes of play Welland's Ray Fessey was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 80th match minute, Welland was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ray Fessey to maneuver through the defense. In the 84th minute, Allen Bouer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 91 minutes, Bryant Edwards made it 3-3 with a short kick to the right side. Welland's Burt Rafferty tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bryant Edwards in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Burt Rafferty prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bryant Edwards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute.
