After 43 played minutes Welland got a freekick which was hit by Bryan Reiter. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gregg Laughton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Stanley booed when Welland was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregg Laughton didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 64 minutes, Sam Hoey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Welland and the Stanley players grew even worse after the yellow card. Stanley's Bryanne Freel shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 71st minute of play. The shot was stopped by Burt Rafferty but with some difficulty. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Stanley walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
