Blade Cave charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Blade Cave the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th minute, one of Bronco Utd Buddies:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bronco Utd Buddies. Bernie Miller might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Burt Rafferty. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernie Miller ran back to his position shaking his head. When Gregg Laughton came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Welland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gregg Laughton couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Welland getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Bryan Reiter hit a great ball. In the 46thth minute of the game Gregg Laughton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bronco Utd Buddies's Thomas Berresford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a rather tough play, Bronco Utd Buddies's Dwight Bonison got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 56 minutes into the match, Welland's goal looked a bit too open when Bernie Miller came free, but Burt Rafferty reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
