Rodd Kinsey was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 5th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Stanley's Richard Durbin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justin Mcvey in the 9th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Evan Cridland got free with Richard Durbin in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Richard Durbin came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Meruthera's Evan Cridland. But to his dismay, Evan Cridland quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. If Bath Colman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the game, Bath Colman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Bernie Surman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Brooks Cawthorne struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Bernie Surman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stanley. Justin Mcvey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Durbin having to interfere. In the 40th minute of the match, Davey Guy tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Richard Durbin saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 44th minute Stanley were awarded a corner. Bryanne Freel went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Kris Devine heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Justin Mcvey made a kick off. After 52 played minutes Bath Colman rounded Meruthera's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-2. Anthony Didlick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Bernie Surman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the game, Davey Guy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Meruthera's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stanley the free kick. In the 57th match minute, Meruthera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davey Guy to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justin Mcvey in the 62nd minute of play forced Stanley's goalkeeper Richard Durbin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Brooks Cawthorne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Meruthera's Bernie Surman got control of the ball when Brooks Cawthorne tried to sneak it across the goal line. Brooks Cawthorne recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 78th minute of the match, Brooks Cawthorne got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bernie Surman was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 81st minute of the match Craig Orvad shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Richard Durbin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Meruthera's Craig Orvad got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Anthony Didlick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Bernie Surman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 90th minute of the game. One of Meruthera:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Stanley:s goal. Jemmett Babbage might have been able to make a better finish in the 100th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Richard Durbin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jemmett Babbage ran back to his position shaking his head.
