Seating: 1840, VIP seats: 0) Welland's Gregg Laughton started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Richard Durbin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neale Bridson in the 4th minute of play. Bath Colman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Welland's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stanley the free kick. Burt Rafferty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stanley. In the 93rd match minute, Stanley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryanne Freel to maneuver through the defense. If Brooks Cawthorne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
