Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Munroe Balaam kicked off to start the match. 3 minutes into the match, Cheviot's goalkeeper Davey Deal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Drew Hardiman. Benjamin Pack made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bradley Fazey in the 7th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Brandes Warren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cheviot's Bradley Fazey got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bradley Fazey struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Benjamin Pack didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cheviot. In the 17th minute Munroe Balaam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Davey Deal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Halifax FC booed when Cheviot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jervis Cowdell didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Cheviot's goal looked a bit too open when Munroe Balaam came free, but Davey Deal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Drew Hardiman's late challenge caught a Cheviot's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Drew Hardiman helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th match minute, Cheviot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brand Woodbridge to maneuver through the defense. Davey Deal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bran Gray in the 38th minute of play. Barnes Dale charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barnes Dale the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Barnes Dale hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute, Halifax FC's Munroe Balaam dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Cheviot's Davey Deal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Cheviot from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bradley Fazey stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Murdock Stockwin fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Halifax FC's protests and gave Murdock Stockwin a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th minute, Brandes Warren ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Davey Deal was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. When Duncan Auger came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Cheviot fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duncan Auger couldn't finish the play. Davey Deal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Munroe Balaam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
