Spectators: 6837 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1837, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Richard Hinwood kicked off to start the match. After a rather tough play, Melbourne 1980's Ike Obrien got a free kick in the 12th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nelson Minter during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 15th minute, Nelson Minter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A throw-in in the 25th minute of the game was made by Ozzie Serena with Belton Barclay as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Brookdale's Jordon Bohn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Hinwood in the 29th minute of play. Richard Hinwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jordon Bohn having to interfere. Nelson Minter kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After 48 played minutes Melbourne 1980 got a freekick which was hit by Ike Obrien. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aron Huther to strike the kick off in the second half. Melbourne 1980's Richard Hinwood got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Melbourne 1980 fans' excitement grew in the 55th match minute when Melbourne 1980's Richard Hinwood looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Richard Hinwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jordon Bohn having to interfere. Melbourne 1980's Jarvis Quigley got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 1-2 became the score in the 71st minute when Richard Hinwood elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Hinwood in the 77th minute of play forced Brookdale's goalkeeper Jordon Bohn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Richard Hinwood came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Melbourne 1980 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard Hinwood couldn't finish the play. In the 80th minute, Jarvis Quigley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Melbourne 1980 booed when Brookdale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson Minter didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 84th minute Richard Hinwood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordon Bohn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 85thth minute of the game Jarvis Quigley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Brookdale's Jordon Bohn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 88 minutes, Brooks Harding managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne 1980's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brooks Harding was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Jarvis Quigley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jordon Bohn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richard Hinwood in the 92nd minute of play. If Arneil Munster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 95 minutes, Jordon Bohn successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 96th minute of the game, Brooks Harding landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Brookdale's Nelson Minter got his second yellow card of the match in the 96th minute. The referee ordered Nelson Minter off the ground. Belton Barclay hit a great freekick 100 minutes into the match. The Brookdale fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Melbourne 1980 were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
