Cancun's Arnold Millgate got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnold Millgate fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Al Fieldhouse having to interfere. After some careless play in the Walgett defense, Abraham Schulze kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Al Fieldhouse. The Walgett fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Al Fieldhouse should have stopped the shot. In the 19th minute of the match Iggi Smoothy shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Al Fieldhouse showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 21st minute, Lucas Bailey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 24th minute, Casper Monck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Max Unicomb stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lucas Bailey's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Cullen Heberle's late challenge caught a Cancun's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cullen Heberle helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Walgett's Cullen Heberle got a free kick in the 28th minute. When Arnold Millgate came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Cancun fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnold Millgate couldn't finish the play. Pete Keayes's late challenge caught a Cancun's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pete Keayes helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cancun booed when Walgett was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pete Keayes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Max Unicomb made an important save on a dangerous shot by Navarro Johnson in the 39th minute. If Rex Muddle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Arnold Millgate sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Walgett's zone, Abraham Schulze stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Al Fieldhouse came out of the goal and Abraham Schulze tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arnold Millgate to make the kick off. Rex Muddle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Max Unicomb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 54 minutes into the game, Rex Muddle cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Max Unicomb was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 57th match minute, Walgett was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Navarro Johnson to maneuver through the defense. Abraham Schulze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Al Fieldhouse having to interfere. In the 61st minute Lucas Bailey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Max Unicomb saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lucas Bailey in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Max Unicomb prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Cancun's Ian Haeberle got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 70th minute, Navarro Johnson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Max Unicomb was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After 79 played minutes, Walgett's Britton Lambourne shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Max Unicomb came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Walgett reached it. In the 80th minute, Arnold Millgate got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 82nd minute, Gregory Stebbing hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rex Muddle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnold Millgate in the 90th minute of play forced Walgett's goalkeeper Al Fieldhouse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnold Millgate received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Al Fieldhouse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Al Fieldhouse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnold Millgate, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. In the 97th minute the ball was on its way in behind Walgett's goalkeeper Al Fieldhouse, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Walgett were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Cancun for a fine match.
