Britton Lambourne hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Remington Porter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Al Fieldhouse having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, Britton Lambourne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Walgett's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Oxford United the free kick. Remington Porter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 26 minutes of play, Oxford United's Remington Porter made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remington Porter in the 40th minute of play forced Walgett's goalkeeper Al Fieldhouse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Walgett getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. John Weller hit a great ball. Al Fieldhouse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remington Porter in the 45th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Remington Porter stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Dani Duncan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Al Fieldhouse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Lucas Bailey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Walgett's supporters rose to their feet, but Lucas Bailey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
