The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Muntham's defense didn't have a chance, in the 7th minute, when Howie Winkless scored to the left of an out of position Burtt Telfer, making the score, 1-0. Eddie Schulze received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Corder Kreck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 20th minute of the match Ozzie Fasey sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Burtt Telfer skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 26 minutes, Bray Brien managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Muntham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bray Brien was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bray Brien fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corder Kreck having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Pekina's goal looked a bit too open when Eddie Schulze came free, but Corder Kreck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st match minute, Pekina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bill Haeberle to maneuver through the defense. Ozzie Fasey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Burtt Telfer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ozzie Fasey in the 36th minute. Burtt Telfer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Howie Winkless, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Howie Winkless was the one to do the kick off. Ozzie Fasey might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Burtt Telfer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ozzie Fasey ran back to his position shaking his head. Eddie Schulze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corder Kreck having to interfere. In the 66th minute, Howie Winkless got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 71 minutes into the match, Pekina's goalkeeper Corder Kreck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Charles Osbiston. After 72 minutes, Bray Brien made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Pekina's Corder Kreck tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Howie Winkless's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Burtt Telfer was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. Ozzie Fasey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Burtt Telfer having to interfere. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Muntham's goalkeeper Burtt Telfer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Burtt Telfer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Howie Winkless, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Eddie Schulze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Corder Kreck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eddie Schulze, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Despite being the better team, Pekina failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
