After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Barnett Baxter managed to get in a good position for a shot. Murmungee's supporters rose to their feet, but Barnett Baxter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mark Butterfield breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Murmungee booed when Sydney Eagles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Navarro Plank didn't get a good kick on the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Sydney Eagles's goal looked a bit too open when Corbett Wenham came free, but Mark Butterfield reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sydney Eagles's zone, Corbett Wenham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Butterfield came out of the goal and Corbett Wenham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 57 in the game by Corbett Wenham from a close distance when the talented Mark Butterfield managed to make a qualified save. Sydney Eagles's players were relieved. If Corbett Wenham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mark Butterfield was out of position in the 59 minute of play, and Barnett Baxter capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Barnett Baxter really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Rusty Howarth's late challenge caught a Murmungee's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonty Mcinnes in the 80th minute of play forced Murmungee's goalkeeper Rex Fieldhouse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mark Butterfield showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barnett Baxter, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Corbett Wenham who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 82ndth minute tested the skills of Mark Butterfield when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Barnett Baxter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Murmungee's Barnett Baxter got a free kick in the 90th minute. When the match was over Murmungee could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sydney Eagles throughout the match.
