The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Christopher Staggard showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kyle Heathwood made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Bennett Mcjunkin sent off a good shot on target. When Arsenal Academy's Lauder Guy, in the 20th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Arsenal Academy. Nichol Notley hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Sale's Kyle Heathwood threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Grant Kesi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Grant Kesi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bennett Mcjunkin was extremely unlucky when he, in the 46th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Grant Kesi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Kyle Heathwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lauder Guy made a kick off. Sale's Grant Kesi got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 56 minutes into the match, Arsenal Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Bennett Mcjunkin came free, but Kyle Heathwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute Lauder Guy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christopher Staggard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bennett Mcjunkin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Grant Kesi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bennett Mcjunkin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyle Heathwood having to interfere. Kyle Heathwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant Kesi, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute Grant Kesi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kyle Heathwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute, Britton Tauschke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute of the match Brendan Favas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kyle Heathwood skillfully saved the ball. The Arsenal Academy fans' excitement grew in the 90th match minute when Arsenal Academy's Lauder Guy looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After having played for 94 minutes, Bennett Mcjunkin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bennett Mcjunkin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Sale lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
