Berny Stebbing showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dan Wittber, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The supporters of Palmerston North Pirates booed when Tigers FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nathan Meyers didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 60th minute of the match, Karl Schonke got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jamese Awage was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Karl Schonke in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jamese Awage, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Karl Schonke might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jamese Awage. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Karl Schonke ran back to his position shaking his head. Palmerston North Pirates's Jamese Awage played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Byrne Muncaster in the 77th minute of play. In the 94th play minute Karl Schonke came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jamese Awage. 1-2.
