Tobie Parryman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baxter Kuskoff having to interfere. The supporters of Palmerston North Pirates booed when Lucyvale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregory Locke didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tobie Parryman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute.
