In the 12th minute, Battle Block hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Enforcers's Randle Bodimeade shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 13th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jamese Awage but with some difficulty. Downing Schultz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamese Awage having to interfere. In the 18th minute of the match Bjorn Petersen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Brooks Tisdell skillfully saved the ball. If Bishop Rosenboom had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Downing Schultz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Jamese Awage tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 27 minutes, Bishop Rosenboom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 29th minute Bert Johnson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brooks Tisdell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 37 minutes, Bishop Rosenboom managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Enforcers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bishop Rosenboom was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. It was Randle Bodimeade who took care of the corner kick. After 43 played minutes The Enforcers got a freekick which was hit by Downing Schultz. After a defensive mix-up in The Enforcers's zone, Dan Wittber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brooks Tisdell came out of the goal and Dan Wittber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After 55 played minutes Palmerston North Pirates got a freekick which was hit by Abbott Powell. Bert Johnson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Brooks Tisdell made a huge save. Tobie Parryman struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Brooks Tisdell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmerston North Pirates. Bishop Rosenboom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jamese Awage having to interfere. In the 67thth minute of the game Bishop Rosenboom who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palmerston North Pirates's Jamese Awage was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dan Wittber during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dan Wittber hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Jamese Awage took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Downing Schultz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bishop Rosenboom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Jamese Awage was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
