The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Darrell Castray received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Tom Grieve tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tom Grieve took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Richard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Keith Magrath got free with Payton Haydock in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tom Grieve showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darrell Castray in the 14th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darrell Castray in the 18th minute of play forced Perth Glory's goalkeeper Tom Grieve to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in MongolianWarrior's zone, Rodd Powell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Payton Haydock came out of the goal and Rodd Powell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Keith Magrath struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Payton Haydock didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Perth Glory. When Rodd Powell came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Perth Glory fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodd Powell couldn't finish the play. Payton Haydock stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodd Powell's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. If Rodd Powell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Keith Magrath got free with Payton Haydock in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 32 played minutes MongolianWarrior got a freekick which was hit by Steve Magrath. Keith Magrath in the 34thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Payton Haydock, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Perth Glory getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Kent Renny hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Payton Haydock came out of the goal and Keith Magrath tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Perth Glory defense, Herbert Richard kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tom Grieve. The Perth Glory fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tom Grieve should have stopped the shot. Gregg Jeffress took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 76th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Payton Haydock. MongolianWarrior's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Payton Haydock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodd Powell in the 77th minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Darrell Castray got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tom Grieve came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by MongolianWarrior's Herbert Richard. But to his dismay, Herbert Richard quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3.
