The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Arnie Alcock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reese Weeks, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bulleen Zebras F.C.'s goalkeeper Birrell Mckay, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 11 minutes into the game, Buck Blattman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bulleen Zebras F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Perilya the free kick. In the 11th minute, Buck Blattman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bill Schoenke hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Best James took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Birrell Mckay to make any attempt to save it. Arnie Alcock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reese Weeks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Bulleen Zebras F.C.'s Reese Weeks sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnie Alcock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Perilya's Birrell Mckay threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Best James, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 40 minutes into the match, Bulleen Zebras F.C.'s Buck Blattman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnie Alcock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Perilya's zone, Buck Blattman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnie Alcock came out of the goal and Buck Blattman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Perilya's Clark Blestowe got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Reese Weeks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnie Alcock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Buck Blattman, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Buck Blattman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnie Alcock having to interfere. Birrell Mckay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Larkin Swan in the 68th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bill Schoenke during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th match minute, Bulleen Zebras F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bill Schoenke to maneuver through the defense. Andrew Kaine kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Perilya's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Buck Blattman scored to the left of an out of position Arnie Alcock, making the score, 1-1. Buck Blattman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Reese Weeks got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
