The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 11 minutes into the game, Sturt's Bernard Magrath nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Matthew Mcenally made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Bernard Magrath sped through Bindi FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Matthew Mcenally. 32 minutes into the match, Sturt's goalkeeper Casper Dalglish had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paco Durbin. When Paco Durbin came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Bindi FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paco Durbin couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Loyd Bailey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sturt's supporters rose to their feet, but Loyd Bailey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Mcenally breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Brookes Barugh's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Casper Dalglish was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. The Bindi FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sturt were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brookes Barugh made a kick off. Bindi FC's Paco Durbin got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sturt's goalkeeper Casper Dalglish, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 57 minutes, Baxter Gaffigan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sturt and the Bindi FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Sturt getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Baxter Gaffigan hit a great ball. If Paco Durbin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the match, Sturt's goal looked a bit too open when Brookes Barugh came free, but Casper Dalglish reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paco Durbin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Casper Dalglish having to interfere. Loyd Bailey's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Matthew Mcenally firmly grabbed it by the left post. Sturt's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Irving Heys in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute of the match, Bernard Magrath tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Matthew Mcenally saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Loyd Bailey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Matthew Mcenally tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Russ Houldsworth kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 84th match minute, Bindi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bryanne Unicomb to maneuver through the defense. It was beautiful to see Sturt's Irving Heys in action when he in the 86th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Matthew Mcenally showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernard Magrath, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. 0-3 became the score in the 91st minute when Bernard Magrath elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Matthew Mcenally made an important save on a dangerous shot by Loyd Bailey in the 94th minute. Sturt's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
