With a couple of smart ball manuevers Humphry Couzens in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marshall Beattie saved Gold Coast United from getting behind. Logan Millar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Larkin Kuskop, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Humphry Couzens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jackson Terris hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. North Melbourne's Humphry Couzens got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jason Stebbing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Logan Millar having to interfere. In the 44th minute Larkin Kuskop shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Logan Millar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Larkin Kuskop to make the kick off. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind North Melbourne's goalkeeper Logan Millar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Humphry Couzens managed to get in a good position for a shot. North Melbourne's supporters rose to their feet, but Humphry Couzens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marshall Beattie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With his leg Marshall Beattie managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when North Melbourne's Humphry Couzens fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 64th match minute, North Melbourne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kale Samuels to maneuver through the defense. Jason Stebbing recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 76th minute of the match Brendon Beckwith shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Logan Millar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 77th minute, Darian Pears hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. North Melbourne's Logan Millar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jason Stebbing in the 82nd minute of play. Marshall Beattie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aden Lambourne went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Humphry Couzens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marshall Beattie having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Gold Coast United failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
