In the 4th minute, Brombin's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Neil Gorham fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Clark Goodbun made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Neil Gorham sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Brombin getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Darrell Askew hit a great ball. 17 minutes into the match, Brombin's goalkeeper Clark Goodbun had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Corey Leydin. After a defensive mix-up in Brombin's zone, Neil Gorham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clark Goodbun came out of the goal and Neil Gorham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Neil Gorham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Clark Goodbun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 minutes of play, Sydney Rockets's Corey Leydin made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Clark Goodbun was left in no man's land by his defense there! Brombin's Clark Goodbun proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Brombin from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Corey Leydin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sydney Rockets's supporters rose to their feet, but Corey Leydin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clark Goodbun breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Neil Gorham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Clark Goodbun made a huge save. When Adolfo Hodson fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Brombin's protests and gave Adolfo Hodson a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Brombin getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Adolfo Hodson hit a great ball. When Corey Leydin came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Sydney Rockets fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Corey Leydin couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Neil Gorham got free with Clark Goodbun in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Loud Wharton's late challenge caught a Brombin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Loud Wharton helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Sydney Rockets getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Loud Wharton hit a great ball. Corey Leydin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Corey Leydin to strike the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Neil Gorham in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clark Goodbun saved Brombin from getting behind. Clark Goodbun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neil Gorham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clifford Pound fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnie Howie having to interfere. After 65 played minutes Brombin got a freekick which was hit by Damian Markwell. 68 minutes into the match, Brombin's goal looked a bit too open when Corey Leydin came free, but Clark Goodbun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Damian Markwell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Brombin getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Nichol Hollingworth hit a great ball. Damian Markwell's late challenge caught a Sydney Rockets's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Damian Markwell helped the player get up and apologised. Sydney Rockets's Murphey Barugh couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 78th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Brombin. When Sydney Rockets's Corey Leydin in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brombin's goalie prevented a goal. Clark Goodbun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Corey Leydin in the 84th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Brombin's goal looked a bit too open when Neil Gorham came free, but Clark Goodbun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sydney Rockets's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
