Jordon Smoothey kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. When Drew Mapps came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Ermington FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Drew Mapps couldn't finish the play. Angus Mcjunkins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Price in the 82nd minute of play. In the 86th minute, David Odd got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 89th minute Drew Mapps suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Ryan Bowman fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kewell's protests and gave Ryan Bowman a yellow card for diving instead. After 90 played minutes Kewell got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Bowman. The audience thought a goal was coming when Berry Stageman got free with Carter Glover in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Ryan Bowman came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Kewell fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ryan Bowman couldn't finish the play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Kewell fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 96th minute. Penalty! The Kewell fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ermington FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
