Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jayden Bailey in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marshall Beattie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bern Block charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bern Block the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Gold Coast United's Bern Block got a free kick in the 21st minute. Jayden Bailey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Marshall Beattie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 26 minutes of play Gold Coast United's Bern Block was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Brombin booed when Gold Coast United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bern Block didn't get a good kick on the ball. Michael Lonergan kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Jason Stebbing had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Clark Goodbun. Brombin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jason Stebbing was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 38th play minute Jason Stebbing came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Clark Goodbun. 3-1. Marshall Beattie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clifford Pound, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jason Stebbing to make the kick off. Marshall Beattie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jayden Bailey in the 52nd minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 65th minute by Jayden Bailey got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jason Stebbing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Brombin's zone, Jason Stebbing stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clark Goodbun came out of the goal and Jason Stebbing tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Darrell Askew sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marshall Beattie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jayden Bailey, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute.
