Corey Leydin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carter Glover having to interfere. If Corey Leydin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Corey Leydin put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Carter Glover. 31 minutes into the match, Kewell's goal looked a bit too open when Loud Wharton came free, but Carter Glover reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carter Glover stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Neil Gorham's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Sydney Rockets's goalkeeper Arnie Howie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Baxter Adair. In the 42nd minute, Carson Aroege hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baxter Adair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arnie Howie having to interfere. In the 46thth minute of the game Corey Leydin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kewell's Carter Glover was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 48th minute Neil Gorham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carter Glover saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Corey Leydin made a kick off. Keefer Hayman kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Carter Glover showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Corey Leydin, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After a rather tough play, Kewell's Patrick Price got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Corey Leydin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Neil Gorham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sydney Rockets's supporters rose to their feet, but Neil Gorham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carter Glover breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 72nd minute Corey Leydin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carter Glover saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sydney Rockets's Corey Leydin was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 73rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Neil Gorham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Corey Leydin might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carter Glover. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Corey Leydin ran back to his position shaking his head. Sydney Rockets's Corey Leydin got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Neil Gorham got free with Carter Glover in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jordon Smoothey charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jordon Smoothey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Kewell's Jordon Smoothey got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Patrick Price kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The Kewell fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sydney Rockets were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
