Dale Lorenz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James Sinden, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Nelson Hitchen kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Welford's Bartholemew Goodward got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Burtt Mcquinn hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bartholemew Goodward during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With his leg Quincy Price managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when True Balance FB's Al Gannan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Quincy Price made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Martin Shipman sent off a good shot on target. If James Sinden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Birrell Burmeister blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Quincy Price having to make a save. Martin Shipman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Quincy Price having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The audience was convinced that Birrell Burmeister's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Quincy Price was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Birrell Burmeister in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Quincy Price saved Welford from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Dalwood Wege managed to get in a good position for a shot. Welford's supporters rose to their feet, but Dalwood Wege was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dale Lorenz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
