The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Baxter Mosley during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Baxter Mosley hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. 9 minutes into the match, Gold Coast City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dalwood Wege came free, but Brye Cubitt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Eden Ayrton could shoot a difficult shot in the 15th minute, which Quincy Price however easily saved by the left post. After 16 minutes, Kenneth Alcock mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gold Coast City FC and the Welford players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 16 played minutes Gold Coast City FC got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Alcock. Brye Cubitt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dalwood Wege in the 18th minute of the match. James Sinden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brye Cubitt having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Welford's goalkeeper Quincy Price had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eden Ayrton. In the 24th match minute, Welford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Burtt Mcquinn to maneuver through the defense. Welford's Quincy Price proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Welford from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Welford's Burtt Mcquinn got a free kick in the 26th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Berne Crapp during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Gold Coast City FC booed when Welford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Berne Crapp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eden Ayrton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edgar Coldicutt's late challenge caught a Welford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar Coldicutt helped the player get up and apologised. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

In the 57th minute, Eliot Russell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Gold Coast City FC's Brye Cubitt got control of the ball when Dalwood Wege tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Eden Ayrton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Welford's goalkeeper Quincy Price, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dalwood Wege got free with Brye Cubitt in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ringo Barclay charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ringo Barclay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 78 played minutes Welford got a freekick which was hit by Ringo Barclay. Eden Ayrton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Quincy Price tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Burtt Mcquinn kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eden Ayrton in the 85th minute of play forced Welford's goalkeeper Quincy Price to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Quincy Price showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eden Ayrton in the 86th minute of the match. Tommy Merz hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, James Sinden managed to get in a good position for a shot. Welford's supporters rose to their feet, but James Sinden was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brye Cubitt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Brye Cubitt made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Dalwood Wege sent off a good shot on target. After 96 minutes, Nathaniel Soekirno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gold Coast City FC and the Welford players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by James Sinden in the 98th minute of play forced Gold Coast City FC's goalkeeper Brye Cubitt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
